Modern Slavery Statement
Highbury Movers Modern Slavery Commitment
Highbury Movers is committed to conducting all aspects of its business ethically, responsibly, and in full respect of human rights. This Modern Slavery Statement sets out the steps we take to prevent modern slavery and human trafficking in our operations and supply chains. It applies to all employees, contractors, agency workers, and suppliers that provide goods or services to Highbury Movers.
Zero-Tolerance Approach to Modern Slavery
Highbury Movers has a zero-tolerance policy towards all forms of modern slavery, forced labour, human trafficking, debt bondage, servitude, and child labour. We will not knowingly engage with or support any organisation that is involved in, or complicit with, such practices. Our leadership team is responsible for promoting a culture where unethical labour practices are never accepted and where respect for human dignity is central to the way we work.
All employees and managers are required to conduct business in line with this policy and to challenge behaviours or arrangements that could give rise to a risk of exploitation. Any breach of this policy by an employee may result in disciplinary action, up to and including dismissal. Where a supplier is found to be in breach, we will take appropriate steps which may include corrective action plans, suspension of work, or termination of the business relationship.
Supply Chain Standards and Supplier Audits
Our supply chain includes providers of vehicles and equipment, storage facilities, packaging materials, recruitment and labour services, and other professional and operational support services. We expect all suppliers, regardless of size or location, to uphold labour standards that are consistent with our own expectations and with applicable laws.
Highbury Movers seeks to identify and assess the risk of modern slavery in our supply chain, with particular attention to higher-risk categories such as temporary labour and outsourced services. We use a combination of due diligence questionnaires, contract terms, and periodic supplier audits to verify compliance. These audits may be conducted by Highbury Movers or by qualified third parties and can include document reviews, site visits, and confidential interviews with workers where appropriate and lawful.
New suppliers are assessed prior to engagement, and existing suppliers are monitored on an ongoing basis, proportionate to the level of risk and the nature of the relationship. Where issues are identified, we aim to work collaboratively with suppliers to implement corrective actions and improve standards, while reserving the right to end relationships where material non-compliance persists.
Reporting Channels and Protection from Retaliation
Highbury Movers encourages everyone connected with our business, including employees, agency workers, contractors, and suppliers, to raise concerns about potential modern slavery or human rights abuses at the earliest opportunity. Concerns can be reported through normal management channels or directly to senior management. Individuals may also raise issues through any internal incident reporting or whistleblowing mechanisms operated by Highbury Movers.
All reports will be taken seriously, treated sensitively, and investigated promptly and fairly. We are committed to ensuring that no person who raises a concern in good faith suffers any form of retaliation, such as dismissal, demotion, loss of work, or other disadvantage. Where required, we will cooperate with law enforcement and relevant authorities to support investigations and remediation efforts.
Training, Awareness, and Continuous Improvement
To support the effective implementation of this statement, Highbury Movers provides relevant training and guidance to managers and employees whose roles involve procurement, supplier management, or the supervision of workers. We promote awareness of modern slavery risks, indicators of exploitation, and the steps to take when concerns arise. We also encourage key suppliers to develop their own policies, training, and oversight mechanisms in line with internationally recognised labour standards.
We recognise that tackling modern slavery is a continuous process that requires ongoing vigilance and improvement. Highbury Movers is committed to reviewing our practices regularly, learning from experience, and adapting our approach as laws, risks, and best practice evolve.
Annual Review and Approval
This Modern Slavery Statement is reviewed at least once each year to ensure that it remains accurate, effective, and aligned with our wider governance and risk management frameworks. As part of the annual review, we consider any incidents reported, the outcomes of supplier audits, changes in our operational structure or supply base, and developments in legislation or industry guidance.
Following each review, updates may be made to our policies, training programmes, due diligence processes, and contractual requirements to strengthen our response to modern slavery risks. This statement is approved by the senior leadership of Highbury Movers, who retain overall accountability for its implementation and for ensuring that adequate resources are allocated to uphold our commitments.
